HOD'S DESK :- Dr.Pravin Pandurang Padalkar (MBBS,MS,FCPS, D’Ortho)

Dr. Pravin Padalkar is a Super-specialist in the field of Spine Surgery. He has completed his MBBS from Seth G S Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai in the year 1999. He has completed his MS in Orthopedics from Seth G S Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai the year 2005, Clinical Fellowship in orthopedics from National University Hospital, Singapore in 2006 and Spine Surgery Fellowship from Singapore General Hospital in 2007. He is active in the field of research, academics and has numerous national and international scientific presentations and publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals to his credit.

His areas of interest are Minimally Invasive, Micro endoscopic spine surgery, artificial disc replacement, spine deformity correction, and complex & revision spine surgeries. Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Post Graduate Institute of Medical sciences , Navi Mumbai is established in year 2022 under the guidance of Medical superintendent then, currently Hon. MOH, Dr Prashant Javade and Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation

We applied for new post graduate course establishment to NMC and after assessment got Letter of Permission to start MS Orthopaedics Post Graduate course with 02 seats with effect from academic year 2024-25. Our first batch of 02 Junior Residents will be joinin our institute in October 2024 onwards. Our hospital is the biggest Civil Hospital in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. We have an enormous workload and Post Graduate students are getting clinical & surgical exposure to all kinds of Orthopaedic trauma, polytrauma, mass casualties handling, pelviacetabular trauma, arthroplasty, arthroscopy and spine surgeries exposure work.

Post Graduate students are subjected to well-constructed, research based, immersive and interactive residency training program. We have an experienced faculty to guide and supervise this training program. Post Graduate students are well exposed to OPD work, Ward work, grand rounds, and hands on in OT and during emergencies. Case presentation, seminars, Journal club and integrated inter-departmental teaching is conducted as per adult learning medical teaching-learning principles.

To evaluate the progress, we regularly conduct internal assessment exams. We aim to increase the pool of competent and skilled Orthopedic surgeons so as to cater the healthcare and educational needs of my country.
